Friday 19 May 2023 saw the Bradfield Society host the second Bradfieldian London Lunch at the Lansdowne Club in London’s Mayfair.

Over 80 Bradfieldians joined us for the lunch, the oldest guests representing the class of 1950 and the youngest who left Bradfield in 2021. Several guests came along with other members of their family including: Christopher Lee (G 45-50) attending with his son Simon Lee (G 74-79), brothers Richard (F 65-70) and Robert Halcrow (F 69-74), Matthew and Dan Slater (F 10-15), Milo and Felix Thomas (G 16-21), Nick (E 79-83) and Ben Finegold (G 11-16), Micky (E 73-78) and Sam Denehy (D 10-15) and Paul (B 66-70) and Tim Arnold (B 69-94) attending together.

Thank you to those Bradfieldians who marshalled tables of guests including Steve Simmance (G 79-83) who organised his regular table of contemporaries as he does each year. This year Tim Walton (F 82-87) brought together his group of friends from 1987, many who had not seen each other since their Bradfield days and they all had a wonderful reunion. Tim added afterwards “A great time was had by all and we’re already looking forward to the next one!”

This year’s lunch was the second we have held in the beautiful Ballroom at the Lansdowne Club. Pre-lunch drinks in the Long Gallery were followed by a three-course lunch menu which included: English Asparagus with Smoked Salmon, Supreme of Norfolk Black Leg Chicken with Crushed Potato followed by Tarte Tatin with Calvados Chantilly & Bourbon Vanilla Ice Cream. After the meal, the Headmaster Chris Stevens gave a short talk to everyone about the College as it is today and how it compares with the place guests will remember from their day.

At the end of the meal those who were still able to stay a little longer went to the Coach and Horses on Bruton Street in Mayfair to enjoy an al fresco drink and make the most of the beautiful early summer’s day in London.

If you joined us, we hope that you had a good time. Please share the experience with your friends and we look forward to seeing you all again next year on Friday 17 May 2024.
