To celebrate its 175th anniversary, Bradfield will open its gardens as part of the National Garden Scheme (NGS) on Sunday 1 June 2025. More than 3000 private gardens are opened to the public each year for this very special charity. Almost 100 years old, the NGS was set up in 1927 to help fund The Queen’s Nursing Institute by asking garden owners to open their plots to the public for a shilling a head. In 2023, the NGS raised a record-breaking £3.4 million for nursing and health charities, including Parkinson’s UK, Marie Curie, Mencap and the horticultural charity Perennial. In 2024, it is the 40th year of the NGS supporting Macmillan Cancer Support.
Bradfield hopes that by opening the college gardens in 2025, including the Sunken Garden designed by Garden Designer Jane Fearnley-Whittingstall DipLA, we can help the NGS and their charitable work. We look forward to sharing the private College grounds and campus with all visitors next year.
