The Thames Hare & Hounds Alumni annual cross-country race took place on Wimbledon Common on Saturday 12 September this year, here OB Runners Secretary, Adam Robinson (G 11-16) shared the details of the day...

'Despite some ominous grey clouds in places we saw sunshine and warmth on the fields of Wimbledon Common. Matt Green-Armytage (E 91-96) and Adam arrived first and grappled with the Bradfield flagpole, with Dom Rogers (D 96-01) and John Lambert (E 87-92) arriving shortly after - allowing good time for a catch up, pinning our numbers and modelling our new OB running vests! As ever, it was a fast start and a tough uphill drag for the first portion of the course, being later met with sharp, twisting descents, felled trees and a few punchy inclines. There's always a few tree roots waiting to trip one up too. I always find myself going off too fast on this course and wishing it was a Parkrun 5k rather than the full 8k prescribed. There's a nice finish to this route though, opening back out onto the playing fields and heading towards the finish funnel cheered on by friends, family and some of the first finishers.

Being a team of only four this year we were too scattered among the age categories (SM, M40, M45 and M50) to sweep up any of the age group team prizes, but of note, John Lambert achieved the best age group score, well done John. Dom retained his form from last year to complete the course around about a minute ahead of John - I sense a rivalry developing there - though a good spirited one at that. Also excellent effort from Matt G-A on his first outing at this event.

Well done also to super-speedy Adam himself, Bradfield's fastest finisher, placed 15th overall :)
