The Bradfield Waifs delighted to report that our Over 50s side has advanced to the Cricketer Cup final for the third consecutive year, after securing a magnificent 3-wicket victory away at Harrow yesterday, Sunday 21st June.
Disciplined Bowling Restricts Harrow
Losing the toss and being asked to field first in a high-pressure semi-final is always a stern test, but the veteran bowling attack executed their plans with great composure. Harrow looked to build big partnerships, but consistent breakthroughs stopped them from ever completely breaking free.
Ben Wyatt (A 85-90) was superb through the middle overs, claiming 3 for 44 to stall the hosts' momentum. Skipper Will Kendall (A 87-92) led by example, delivering a vital spell to take 3 for 36 and ensure Harrow were bowled out for a highly manageable 187.
Composed Chase Seals Final Spot
A target of 188 in a semi-final always requires a cool head, and the chase was ultimately defined by a brilliant family partnership. James Kendall (A 85-90) set a fantastic, resilient platform for the innings with an invaluable 37 to steady early nerves.
When a few mid-innings wickets fell to keep the game on a knife-edge, his brother, captain Will Kendall, stepped up once again. Will anchored the remaining overs flawlessly, finishing unbeaten on 50 not out and hitting the winning runs to secure the victory at 188 for 7, sparking fantastic celebrations on the boundary.
George Bryans (G 07-12)
