We are delighted to report that the Waifs O50s secured a third successive victory against Oundle Rovers, this time with a 66-run triumph in the quarter-final of the Cup.
Having lost the toss, the Waifs posted an imposing 291 for 3 off their 35 overs. Stuart Seymour led the charge, dominating from the off and making the utmost of a good Rectory pitch, short square boundaries, and some obliging bowling. He made a superb tournament all-comers record 144, accompanied by a sleek unbeaten 89 from James Kendall.
In reply, the Rovers threatened at stages before Tim Dellor (3 for 40) and Tony Gammell squeezed the run rate in the crucial post-drinks session, forcing mistakes from a menacing-looking middle order. Skipper Will Kendall also chipped in with a vital 2 for 40. A comfortable margin of victory does not quite tell the full story, but the veteran Waifs wagon rolls on.
A semi-final away at Harrow in late June awaits.
