At the end of a most unusual school year, it was very special to record and be able to share our 'Carols by Candlelight' service this year on video through the College website. The service was recorded over 2 evenings in early December in the candlelit College Chapel and included the traditional 9 lessons and carols.
The link to both the order of service and the video can be found here: https://www.bradfieldcollege.org.uk/co-curricular/music/music-concerts/
Grateful thanks to OB Micky Denehy (E 73-78) for his reading of the poem 'Christmas' by John Betjeman and for supporting us with this recording in Chapel.
This is the first time that we have recorded and shared our carol service globally and it has been very well received by those who have seen it online. We received lots of feedback and a few of the comments we would like to share with you below:
"This is the first time I have heard a Bradfield carol service since I left in 1960 and I was very impressed with the standard of singing and, just as importantly, reading." Robert Wootton (C 55-60)
"Thank you very much for the carol service which was magnificent!" Peter Munn (B 59-64) and
"Because South Africa is as tightly restricted as England this Christmas, I watched your Carol Service on my computer – by myself. But I was not alone. I was back at Bradfield, in the company of joyous youthful singers. (I was in the choir for most of my first two years and I’m still proud of that.) Thank you all for creating it – and for allowing us around the world to join you." Jay Heale (A 50-55)
We hope that you too will enjoy watching the carol service.
