Saturday 22 June was a perfect summer's day for our Summer Reunion 'Day of Celebration' this year.

Combining the reunion with inviting Friends of Bradfield who live locally, alongside Bradfieldians of all generations and 9 former members of staff who returned to Bradfield, created a wonderful celebratory atmosphere. Bob Clapp, the first Housemaster of Faulkner's when it opened in 1999, was there to celebrate 20 years since the house opened and other former members of staff returning included George Chamier SCR 87-05, Colin Burgess who retired in 2018, Maurice Maynard SCR 99-14 and Andrew Whiffin SCR 75-87, who directed the Greek Play 'Alcestis' in 1988.

The photograph above shows Natalie Dreysse J 09-10 who came back from Germany with her brother Claudius A 09-10, along with some of our earliest girls celebrating 30 years of Girls at Bradfield; Emma Langley (Neal) I 88-90, former member of the SCR and first Housemaster of Palmer House Tim Chaloner, Annabel Campbell (Walker) J 91-93 and Gayle Moore (Turner) I 91-93 who were all thrilled to see each other again.

Bradfieldians came from far and wide with some travelling long distances and from overseas to join us for the day, which was wonderful. Everyone was most welcome and enjoyed tours of the College (some describing the houses as much more luxurious than they remembered in their time), watching sport and in many cases also staying for the Greek Play 'Alcestis' in Greeker in the evening.

Dom Berry D 85-89 who played Apollo in Alcestis in 1988 came for the evening and said "it was quite a profound moment to sit back in Greeker after so long". Co-incidentally, he sat alongside former member of staff and director of the play in 1988 Andrew Whiffin and Ed Noy Scott who played Coryphaeus and they reminisced about 1988. Henry Savage F 59-65 said 'it is a remarkable achievement that Bradfield College has produced a Classical play in ancient Greek, once every 3 years since 1882'. He enjoyed the 'polished and professional production' and particularly 'admired the costumes and the chorus' singing'.

Several guests described it afterwards as a 'very special day' and we would like to agree with them.
