Simon Dixon (C 58 - 61) very sadly passed away on Tuesday 27th April aged 77 after failing to win his battle against mestheliomoa over the past year or so. Simon was well known for his involvement with the OB Shooting Club, and as President of the 1850 Society.

Simon joined Bradfield in January 1958 in Army House and was involved in the Shooting teams from 1959 - 61, a Cadet in the CCF and after his time at Bradfield went on to Byam Shaw School of Art in London.

Simon was a ‘true Bradfieldian’: C House 58-61.  Looking back he regretted leaving before sixth form to accept a place at Byam Shaw school of Art. His passion was shooting and started when they had a 25yard range at school and then regular bus trips to Bisley which on the return involved a local pub! In his final term he won nearly all the silver.

In 1977 he became secretary of the OBSS and has spent many hours on the ranges with the Bradfield girls and boys and has been an enormous help to Steve Bates. He has coached many generations of Bradfield shooters at Easter Bisley, he supported many of us through our first Imperial meetings, and supported us to become members of the North London Rifle Club, Athelings, and touring team members. It is a joke amongst son Will's contemporaries that they cannot read the latest school magazine without spotting a picture of Simon.  He loved it all.

He will be sadly missed.

Richard Vary (E 86-91) OB Shooting Society
