News

Final Approach charts the turbulent flightpath between a jet setting father and a planespotting son.

Author and Bradfieldian Mark Blackburn (D 71-76) has written a book about his life and his relationship with his father David Blackburn (D 45-50) and what it was like growing up as the eldest son. It is being published by Claret Press on Thursday 2 November 2023.

The publisher describes it as “Half memoir and half travelogue, wrapped in an ode to planespotting, this is one man’s journey to break free.”

It is the story of Mark’s life from his diaries as a child planespotter, through his family life, travels and experiences with each chapter linked to a different airport IATA city code. It is an enjoyable read and one which keeps the reader engaged and entertained in the story right from the beginning to the end.
