The Waifs travelled to Eastbourne on Sunday for the 1st round of the Cricketer Cup, having won the bye round the previous week.
The Cricketer Cup reports - At Eastbourne, Old Eastbournians batted first and made 158, recovering from 55-8 thanks to Charlie Hobden’s 51 coming in at number 10. Bradfield Waifs should have been cruising at 133-4 but lost their last two wickets with the scores level, Hobden taking 4-27. Bradfield were awarded the match by the umpires after a countback into the scores in previous overs.
Speaking on behalf of the Waifs Rupert Cox commented " they can count themselves very lucky as they made it through to the next round by the barest of margins! Lucky, lucky Waifs! The Waifs had controlled most of the game, and in fairness to the OEs they fought very hard throughout the afternoon and can count themselves very unfortunate"
Bradfield will now play OMTs, 2 wicket winners at Sherborne, at Bradfield on Sunday 27th June.
