Anyone for Croquet?

Seeking Bradfieldians who play the sport

News

This summer Bradfield College have joined the Croquet Association after many years of playing the sport in Quad on a friendly basis. Chemistry teacher and Master in Charge of Croquet at the College Anthony Hardwicke has recently registered Bradfield College Croquet Club with the Croquet Association Southern region and took some pupils to the Schools and Juniors Championship last season.

This season as three students have joined the CA as Under 25 members they have entered the Watford GC C-level (7+) Series tournament too. In preparation for their tournament entries, CA Handicap Committee Chairman Frances Colman and Chris Roberts recently visited the College and presented first handicap cards to some of the pupils as you can see in the photo above.

At the recent Ryde Croquet Tournament on the Isle of Wight, Anthony has discovered that Old Bradfieldian Andrew Larpent (H 64-69) plays Croquet competively and we are thinking of finding a team of 4 for an alumni match in the future. Are there any other Bradfieldians out there who play and would like to be involved in Croquet at Bradfield? Andrew says "It's a fantastic sport and the younger we can get newcomers to start playing the better."

Please do get in touch and we look forward to hearing from you.
