The Bradfield Club dines out Peter Gangsted (D 72-77) and Charles George (D 58-63)

On Monday 13 November The Bradfield Club in Peckham hosted their AGM at Bradfield College followed by a Trustees Dinner at Crossways in which former Chairman of the Trustees, Peter Gangsted and long-serving trustee, Charles George were formally dined out. Speeches recounting the many achievements of both Peter and Charles were led by Peter’s predecessor as Chairman, Iain Clark (B 63-68) and Bradfield Club tankards were presented to the pair by Peter’s successor, Nick Sansom (C 68-73).

Both Peter, who held the role of chairman for 15 years, and Charles, who has been a trustee for a note-worthy 50 years, recounted that over their tenure the Club has faced many challenges, not least the more recent disappointment that in the near future it will not be viable to pursue their proposed plans to develop the Club’s site to include a new clubhouse and mix of social and private housing due to a fall in property prices and an increase in construction costs. However, having gone through that exercise, they have emerged with a clear vision of what they can achieve in the existing large clubhouse at the Commercial Way site in Peckham and have an excellent core leadership team in place to deliver this vision notably Daniel Campbell, the Club Manager, Kit Pirnie, Chair of the Youth Work Committee and the oversight of new Chairman Nick Sansom.
