Parents support Shell Advertising Challenge

Last week the 161 pupils in Shell participated in an advertising challenge. All team members took on an official role from CEO to Sales Director, Financial Director to Environmental Sustainability Director. They were asked to develop a business plan inspired by an item selected at random and to pitch their products to a panel of parents who had volunteered to ajudicate. The parent volunteers represented a wide range of professions, from PR, marketing and sales to events and accountancy and even the much revered John Frieda.

The pupil team demonstrated excellent teamwork, creativity, ingenuity, and worked hard throughout the day on their presentations, websites, business and finance plans, marketing campaigns, social media accounts and advertisements, leaving the parent panel suitably impressed and commenting that this was a great opportunity for spotting future talent for their organisations.

The challenge was ultimately won by a company called 'Bee Board' who had developed a unique product made from beeswax for use on surf and skateboards. Their branding was excellent and they demonstrated a lot of thought with regards to their product roll out and the expansion of their business whilst balancing proftiability with environmental sustainability.
