On 19 May members of the Senior Boys' Tennis Team were invited to the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) by Chris Gorringe CBE (E 59-64) and his wife, Jenny. They had the most unforgettable experience, and are still processing the day! Elliot (A) shared with us a bit about the experience...

"What a day. What an incredible experience at the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC). Chris Gorringe CBE and his wife Jenny were kind enough to tour Dennis (E), Pakka (D), Pablo (A), Wally, (G), Yiming (E) and me around the AELTC, showing us Centre Court, the trophies, the members enclosure and the grounds, as well as allowing us to use the amazing facilities that the players use during the Championship. We played on the acrylic courts in the indoor tennis centre, had access to the dressing room, enjoyed an amazing afternoon tea in the members' enclosure, and we were also able to visit the shop and museum, seeing the history of the tournament.

It was an incredible day out and we hope other College players are able to experience this in the future. Thank you to Ms Baynton-Perret for organising the trip, and thank you to Chris and Jenny for their kindness and generosity."

A former quarter-finalist in the Junior Championships of Great Britain at Wimbledon, Chris Gorringe became Assistant Secretary of the All England Club in 1973, later rising to Chief Executive. During his 26 years at the helm, Chris transformed Wimbledon into one of the biggest commercial sporting events in the world and raised the prestige of the event to its present standing.
