23 keen golf competitors joined the Friends of Bradfield Golf Tournament on Saturday 28 March 2026 at the College Golf Club. It was a cool, breezy, clear blue morning and the course was in excellent condition.
The Texas Scramble format, organised so well by Club Secretary Doug Wylie, proved once again to be a perfect format for mixed ability men and ladies to challenge on the 9 hole course. 6 Teams set off at 09.30am and all were back in the clubhouse by 11.30.
The Friends Challenge Shield was presented to the winning team who were; Jill Scott-Tyrrell, Andy Sale, Philip Jones and young Tom Colton. Winners of Nearest the Pin challenge was: Nigel Busby for the Men and Ruth Craigen for the Ladies.
It was agreed that this was a popular format and all being well could be scheduled at a similar date, as a season opener, next year.
Thanks to both Doug Wylie and Andrea Kean (from the Sports Centre) for their help in making the event run so smoothly and to Bradfieldian and Friend of Bradfield Mike Gush for ensuring this popular event continues each year.
