Open Gardens a fabulous success

Raising £3,403 for the National Garden Scheme

To celebrate the 175th anniversary of the College we were proud to open the gardens on 1 June 2025 for the National Garden Scheme charity. The setting in the Pang valley and beautifully tended gardens managed by the Garden’s team were on display in the historic setting of the surrounding brick and flint buildings dating back to 1850.

Guests saw the borders in Quad and the Sunken Garden designed by Jane Fearnley-Whittingstall, alongside being able to see inside both the Chapel and the former St Andrew’s church which is now owned by the college and converted into the St Andrew’s Study Centre.

During the afternoon we welcomed 423 visitors, taking £2090 in ticket receipts and raised an amazing £1,312 from the sale of tea and cake prepared by the college Catering team. The total raised was therefore the fantastic sum of £3,403 which all went to the National Garden Scheme beneficiary charities.
