We are sorry to report the passing of Richard James Bowerman (E 53-57) on 3 December 2022 at the age of 83 years.
A service "remembering and celebrating Richard" took place at St Michael the Archangel Church, Warfield and his wife Yvonne shared the news that his friends, relatives, work colleagues all gathered on the 11th January 2023 to celebrate Richard's life. There were around 90 guests present from Germany, Scotland, Leeds, Bournemouth, London, Essex, Warwick and Norfolk.
Richard had attended Bradfield College from 1953 to 1957 and was in E House. Bradfield proved to be an excellent choice because he loved sport, excelling at cricket, football and cross country running.
On leaving Bradfield College at nineteen, Richard started his career in the city as an articled clerk. Later he joined a firm of accountants and managed an office in Eton and Datchet.
Richard was never happier than when playing or watching sport with his friends. He played tennis and golf; he also enjoyed playing for the Bradfield College Old Boys football team.
Richard always saw the funny side of everyday living and he was blessed with a good sense of humour. Richard was kind and truly generous and he loved helping people. He had a heart for those experiencing difficulties, and this was born out in Richard and Yvonne's association with Yeldall Manor (for whom collections were made at his funeral https://www.yeldall.org.uk/).
