His banking career was enhanced by winning a scholarship to London School of Economics where he studied and qualified as Member of the Chartered Institute of Company Secretaries.

This led to working for a number of banks in New York, London and Sydney on major financial projects in oil and mining. With recession in the late 80s he was persuaded to work for the Chinese government on joint Canadian projects in China. After 7 years he was recruited by a Canadian entrepreneur to act as company secretary for his many companies worldwide. He enjoyed 15 years of worldwide intensive financial business mainly connected to mining until failing health forced him to retire.
